                                   WORK DAYS:  190

                                   REPORTS TO:  Director Student Support Services

                                   START DATE:  January 6, 2025

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  The job of Instructional Support Paraprofessional is done for the purpose of assisting students under the direction of a professional educator and providing instructional support by reinforcing the teacher’s instruction in the classroom.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Educational Level: 
    1. Applicants for paraprofessional positions must hold at least a high school diploma or GED equivalent and satisfy all other federal hiring requirements appropriate to designed position.
    2. Paraprofessionals shall meet one of the following requirements: Completion of at least two years (60 semester/90 quarter hours) of study at an institution of higher education (regionally-accredited): or obtain an associate’s or higher degree; or have passed the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment. 
  1. Certification License:
    1. All Georgia paraprofessionals must hold, or be able to obtain, a valid Paraprofessional Educator certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. Must be able to maintain Georgia Paraprofessional Certificate which includes professional development/training classes related to the position.
  2. Experience :
    1. Experience working with elementary age children a plus.
  3. Physical Activities:
    1. Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities
  4. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
    1. Written and oral communication; instructional strategies that connect the curriculum to the learners; student management and other job specific skills may be required.
